On vacation this week, up on Nantucket island. (Any Nantucket T'villians?)
At any rate, my plants are probably going to start blushing fruit this week so I hope to start a harvest when I get back. At any rate, I know sooner go off the ferry on Saturday and walked into town and right on Main street as always, The Bartlett's farm truck, selling tomatoes. I asked what kind - heirlooms was the answer. Raised my eyebrow at that and was told - Germantown Striped, Brandywine and Cherokee Purple.Picked up a nice big Brandywine and 2 Cherokee Purples. (see photo) The photo is missing one CP which was consumed almost immediately - sliced thick, then quartered with a nice dollop of fresh Vermont Burratta. (Mozzarella with a cream center) Heaven on a plate...... The Brandywine is probably going to be consumed this evening in the same fashion. With a side of striped bass that we caught this morning.... My first great tomatoes of the season - actually can't wait to get home and make my 1st BLT with one of mine. |

Good luck for you, i am on the North Shore of Ma, our gardens are not ready yet, the islands get very warm early, actually not much snow. But they do get the summer rains and terrible wind heavy. Enjoy the stripper BTW how big was it?

The Brandywine was very good, but it really didn't come close to the Cherokee!

After eating these I can't wait for more. Actually tried to go buy more, and I guess I hit their harvest perfect over the weekend, as they had nothing left.
