My neighbor around the lake lives on the point, water on 3 sides, and he has snakes that eat his tomatoes! Never would have thought that, but he has caught them in the act.

Unless your family is starving for food, killing an animal for eating in your garden is hideous. If you do kill them, eat them. Grandpa used to have raccoon and squirrel stew for dinner during the depression.

Chipmunks/squirrels have great benefits to the ecosystem. Even in times of over population. Every chipmunk you drowned was one less dinner for an owl.
