I had my first over at friends house on Sunday

It was great, absolutely great.

Can I possibly burst the bubble? Is it a red or pink? (looks pink).....is it oblate or heart shaped?

I was the first to introduce this one to the SSE - got it from Charlotte Mullens from WV in 1990. It should be a very, very large blunt heart shaped red bomb -

So, Mr. Bully - you either have a great tomato that is not Giant Syrian, or the picture doesn't show its true characteristics!

Psst - let me know if you want the real thing, if you have an imposter. I note that the SSE catalog lists it incorrectly as a pink, so some crossing has occurred "out there" somewhere...

There were a good amount of tomatoes on it for a large variety.
More than the average brandywine but less than my GMG
that plant is loaded.

My friend Dennis is growing it, here is a picture of it in his garden.

I have to say it looked just like Omar's Lebanese, I didn't want to make the comparison because it just seemed so cliche.
I'll ride over and take another look in the next few days.

My seed source was Geza in Hungary.

I have harvested several Giant Syrians this year and while the bottom half is dark red, the upper half is more dark pink changing to almost a yellow-pinkish at the shoulders. The fruit has been in the 12oz to 16 oz range and so far are a flattened globe shape. The first group of ripe GS have had excellent flavor. My seed source was SSE 2006 catalogue which states their seed source was Charlotte Mullens of West Virginia. Maybe I need to leave them on the vine a little longer and the pink will disappear ...but they taste so good I'm not sure that will be possible.
