Blossom End Rot
I had 8 beautiful tomato plants this season (over 5.5 ft tall).
I came out today to pick a few ripe tomatoes and noticed every one had a big black circle on the bottom of the fruit (about the size of a dime to a quarter). Pretty sure it's BER based on pics and literature I read. Am I doomed this season to get no good tomatoes? I sure wish I knew what I did wrong. I was growing heirloom varieites mostly. By the way, the lower leaves on a few plants had a yellow / black marks. I tried to remove these leaves as they appeared. They appeared to be either Early or Late Blight. Is it guaranteed the rest of the unripe fruit on the plants will be diseased the same as the first 8-10? Anything I can do to help? |

IN this General Discussions area please scroll down until you find the thread "Useful Cure for BER" and then look for the post I did about BER ( so I don't have to retype it.
No, you aren't doomed. As the plants mature they can better handle all the stresses that can induce BER and so later fruits should be just fine. For more detail about BER please go to the thread and post I suggested above. If you have any more questions please just ask them here in your own thread.
