I looked at lot of the Gamo air rifles. The Big Cat 1400 looks nice.
To me, a rifle or shotgun is like pool cue stick. It has to feel right. If I buy a gun - it has to be one I can see and hold and buy - not on .com |

The sound depends on the gun. They are super quiet in my Remington 514, way less noise than any pellet rifle I ever owned. In my Winchester model 68 there is no sound other than the firing pin striking. WAY more power than a .177 too!

It seems as though the tree chickens have started supplementing their feeder feed with my tomatoes what little I have left.
So I will eat them. I wont even shoot the big bores just the smaller ones. I dont want to wipe them out just get things a little more under control. Over population leads to diseases. Worth |

I have even drilled the bullets out to make hollow points.

The GAMO PBA pellets can get noisy. I cleared out some rats with wings before installing wire measures, no problems since. Subsonic is better in urban settings, VERY accurate up to 50 m or so even w/o the scope.

I just shot about 100 pellets through the thing but I didn't get nor did they have any that were light enough to go super sonic.
I made two spit balls do it and two pellets with wee tiny bit of mineral oil in them. I was shooting from my living room through the garage and into a target about ten yards. It shoots about quarter sized groups but is getting better. The trigger is okay after I took all of the adjustment out of it but it isn't match grade ir at least what I am used to. But better than what most people would have an any rifle off the shelf for the most part. That will be taken care of.' The scope is better than expected. I will take it off tomorrow and shoot it without the scope and see what it does. The only air rifle I have ever owned before this one was the cheap China one that just broke after about 30 or so shots. My brother bought me a BB gun when I was a little kid and that was it. But it didn't matter because by the time other kids my age were getting air rifles I was shooting real rifles. Heavy stuff by the time I was 12 and 13. Worth |

It's not exactly fine craftsmanship, even so I have a feeling you'll dig it a lot, and customize it accordingly.
My mom and I had a great time dialing in the scope for 30 m. Also fun w/o the scope. Next time you're at WalMart get a Justin Bieber poster or something that's enjoyable to pierce with that 1,000 fps. |

I know whos pictuer I would like to put up but I cant say her name here. The trigger is about the only thing I will mess with. I like a 12 oz trigger and I shoot by tapping the trigger with my finger ever so gently. Worth Last edited by Worth1; June 10, 2016 at 03:36 AM. |

The tomatoes I had in stakes are all mowed to the ground. I have a fantastic crop of figs coming on and it is just a matter of time before they start in on them as well as my apple trees. When I first moved here you couldn't even step out the door and they would high tail it out of here. Now they just snort and stomp their feet and trot off a little bit but not run off. This is not a good sign. Worth |

While I was writing the last post I looked up and there was a deer eating my plants.
I slipped outside and it slithered over to the feeder. I popped it in the rear end from about 40 yards and I have to say it did not like it. It must have snorted about 20 times as it ran off into the woods. It is time for her (shows) the Golden Girls and Carol Burnett so I know she had the TV turned up. She also likes the Dr Phil show. The sad part is the folks on the other side had a dog that barked. It kept the deer ran off. The neighbor lady complained all the time about the dog barking and running the deer off. The other folks that had the dog that barked continuously are gone. Worth |

Hello Worth,
These are 2 of my Air rifles the smaller one is a 22 caliber Air Force Talon SS and the other larger is a custom built 25 caliber PCP air rifle. The 22 caliber is very quite the 25 not so much. I use the 22 caliber for squirrels and such and its a tack driver at 20 yards or less. Rick |
