Sterilizing Question

I've seen sterilizing container mixes mentioned a couple times on here.
How do you do this?

A plant pathologist told me once its impossible to do. Even the bags that say they are sterilized potting mix arent.

If you do a google you will see everything from microwaving, heating in an oven to gassing with methyl Bromide. Here is a link that has some useful information. Ami
