diploids, and not...questions
I need to know the differences, and why...I breed daylilies (always prefer the tetrapolids), but need to know ...which will breed, which are bigger spuds, hardier, etc....I have always grown potatoes for the house, but am interested in expanding my knowledge, and growing experiences!

The tetraploid potatoes are, in general, larger than the diploids. But many of the commercial tetraploid potatoes are not self-fertile or are sterile, so if you are hoping to produce seeds they might not suit your purpose.
If you type " tater mater " into your search engine, you can find Tom Wagner's forum on pro boards, and you'll find a lot of information about potatoes there. Last edited by delltraveller; October 14, 2012 at 11:48 AM. |
