It's actually Venetian Marketplace. I received it in last year's swap and I decided to grow it out because it was on Brokenbar's list of top 20 Tomatoes for drying, sauce and salsa. The story is that she bought a tomato at a marketplace while visiting Venice and saved the seed. For me it grew large (close to a pound), pink, pleated (not ribbed) and very dry oblate fruit with a good amount of flavor for a paste. Definitely not a fresh eating variety. The plant was very stocky and almost tree-like. The stems were so thick and hard that they tended to snap if I wasn't careful while tying them to the stake. I am growing it again next year. I thought I had a picture, but I can't find it at the moment. |

Thank you Father'sDaughter. I am very glad to get this information.
We grew a few plants like that in 2013 with real thick stems. They were supposed to be Celebrity, but clearly wasn't. An overhead support system with strings supporting the stems would have been much better than the cages we had them in. Still they produced prolifically even with split stems. |

Rhe romato is pretty, but the china underneath makes me curious. The transfers look familiar...English? Hmmm, early 1900's?
If you still have the piece, would you tell me the makes, please? |

Looks like the writing says "hand painted" as for the crown maybe someone will recognize the emblem.
