Muddy Bucket Farm 9 July 2016 Update

Thought it was time for some pictures. I really have a lot of large maters coming in right now. Most are still in the green stage, but one of two are beginning to show some color break. Here's a few from this morning. I'll do a series of what I call "Glamour" shots sometime in the next few days. Tomorrow I've got to pull bean vines, pick whatever beans are left, and clear the debris. So far, we've gotten almost 7 bushels of Blue Lake green beans from this one row.

Okay, here's the eye candy. First off, here's a couple of shots of Blue Beauty. Nothing showing color break just yet, but it won't be long.

Then, there's Fishlake Oxheart. What looks like two tomatoes in the low-center of the picture is actually one fruit from a megabloom.

Then, here's a new volunteer that showed up this year. It really reminds me of how the OP version of Sungold showed up. We'll have to see how this one does as it ripens.

This is Pink Brandywine from s commercially purchased packet of seed. Every one of the fruit you see and the ones you don't see here (14 total) are in the one pound category. This is the most productive Brandywine I've ever grown and that includes Cowlicks, which held that title up to now.

Then, I purchased this one from Remy as a whim, but this baby is really cranking out a lot of large beefsteak-sized fruit. Here's "Plan 9 From Outer Space" from Sample Seed Shop.

And finally, here's one I got from Clara. It's called "Shadow Boxing Type 4". It has a lot of Antho and a lot of fruit. Those acorn shaped, striped, black, 3 inch tall, nippled blossom end fruit should be turning reddish when the ripening starts. A compact bushy plant that may be less than 4 feet tall by 4 feet wide.

Ginger, my next set of pictures will show some "real" production. Those Brandywines above are easily 5 inches across. Look for my thread (soon to be posted) on "Muddy Bucket Farm Glamour Shots".

It's gonna be a good year.

Ted my most productive Brandywine is from a generic pack as well. I have grown it side by side with Cowlick's and Suddoth and it always wins hands down. It's been the best for 22 years.... Go figure......

Everything looks big to me Ted. Let us know ho the Plan 9 tastes because it has the looks going for it.

Sue, I'll do that. BTW, Kodiak Brown is showing a definite early side and the taste is great. You should give it a try. I think it'll be good for your short season.
