Default It's like Christmas all over again!

I just got about 10 cubic yards of fully composted cow manure delivered ..... wait for it ......... for FREE. Hang on, this gets better. My neighbor then asked me if that was enough. I told him to bring all he wanted to "get rid of" and showed him a place to pile it up. We'll see if there's more to come in the next few days. The big black barn that shows up in a lot of my pictures is being renovated and part of that is to eliminate the old manure piles.

I can certainly attest to the fact that it is good to be nice to your neighbors.

It's super clean of any weeds or seeds. It came from the middle of a huge pile that was about three or more years old. You can pick up a hand full and it smells clean like new dirt, with absolutely NO manure smell.

I've been looking for something to add some "fluff" to the garden soil. This and the munched-up leaves I've composted over the winter along with some mushroom compost mixed together will surely do that.

Today is cleanup day for my seed starting area and tomorrow the seeds go in the flats. Let the fun begin.

Huh! I am incredibly jealous!

Last load of rotted manure I had delivered was about 6 cubic yds and cost me $120, and actually I thought I got a good deal since he had to drive his dump truck about 35 miles to get here! I sure miss not having horses as far as not having a constant manure supply. (Don't miss the mucking out of stalls, though!)

Wow, he delivered it? I have all the horse manure I want, from my own horses but I can only haul 500 pounds at a time and it's 15 miles each way. Makes for a lot of trips when doing major raised bed fills or worse, adding it to the soil in my yard.

Never again will I think of Xmas without making an association with that special, ahem, amendment to your garden.

Sherry, thanks for caring. We came out of the Tornado Warning with little damage - a few limbs out of the trees.

Carolyn, that's what memories are made of.

Uh oh!! Looks like round two and tonight is round three.

We're gonna shut things down and start moving down to the basement. There's a ugly cell headed right down our throats. Wish us luck.

I kind of like my cow manure a lot fresher, but delivered for free, you don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Talk about a close call??? We watched from the basement window as the storm went by on top of the mountain just to the north. The center of the rotation came across Caryville Mountain and then came due east right at us. The tornado was a jumper and kept poking down and then going back up into the cloud. We were expecting a hit when it turned and went slightly north and missed us.

I had left the TV box on recording the ABC station out of Knoxville. Here's some pictures I took of the screen. Note the picture with the large red arrow. I live at the point of the arrow. In the picture with the two blue arrows, our house is at the point of the right arrow.

I know your good thoughts sent that twister north into the wild area. My nerves are settling down, but the next round is already coming up past Murfreesboro.

I think Grandpa Ted will need a large dose of "medicine" with a small chaser this evening when things settle down.
