Default 2009 mater list

After torturing myself for a month, making trades and ordering seeds, I've finally settled on my tomato list for 2009. I'm going to post it here, so I can be done with it. Just too darn many decisions to make, and I'm driving my family nuts worrying about it. I'll be growing out about 5 varieties on top of these, but they are for friends,so I won't list them.

Aunt Ruby's German Green
Black Krim - 2 plants
Black from Tula
Box Car Willie
Costulova Genovese
Earl's Faux
Earl's Mystery Yellow #14
JD's Special C-Tex
KBX
Marianna's Peace - 2 plants

Black Cherry in a container on the deck and 1 hybrid, which I haven't decided on.

This gives me 13 tomatoes in my patch which is double the amount I planted last year. Last year was outstanding for me, and I couldn't even come close to eating all the tomatoes that were produced. But I still think last year was a fluke, and that I normally wouldn't have the kind of production I did so I'm planting more. Now I need to get the rest of my wooden cages made and order a 6 pack of TTC.

I feel better already

I am probably cutting back this year but do plan on growing the following so far
Hege German Pink
Pink Berkley Tie Die
Cherokee Purple
Indian Stripe
possibly Gary O'Sena
Chapman
Purple Haze
Stump of the World
Green Giant
undecided on the rest but I do want to grow one Hybrid,I may Give Big Beef another try

starting seeds in the next day or two

edit to add Goose Creek, Summer Cider and Break O'Day to my list, forgot I had the seeds. Subbed Jet Star and Improved Summertime for Big Beef, misplaced my seeds evidently

Way too early for me to start seeds, darnit! I don't plan to start mine until March, but I always get antsy and start about mid Feb LoL
I keep hearing rave reviews about Stump. That just might go on my 2010 list..and maybe that Berkley. Haha, it never ends does it?

Doesn't it feel liberating to post and stop the infernal list making?

Ha Kat, yep it does. Now I gotta take inventory of things I need and how many of each variety I need to plant. Thank goodness I also grow quite a few perennials. I can start those early and keep myself occupied until mater time. It's definitely an addiction.

Barbee,
That's a great list. So happy that you have it all settled. No way you need to change any of them no sirree bob. Don't let anybody tell you you should have any Royal Hillbilly nor any of those Beauty King from Brad's Boar Farm. Not any of the legacy types like Vinson Watts nor Linbaugh's Potato Top for you either. Yep you've got it all settled no doubt. Also don't feel guilty for not trying some of Carolyn's semiforgotten faves like Red Penna (sp?). Yep no doubt you are all set. Wish I was as far along in planning..

I did a quick calculation on my three plots...I can do 172 tomato plants...that seems like a lot but I have 500 variety's seeds.

Back to my planning...hey I forgot all the containers...okay maybe 200...lol

<------ Is also very guilty of that! I got me a cold frame this year so my kitchen wont be choked with hundreds of plants like it was last year
