I heard that Venus was a spitter so I didn't try it, but I'm growing Cyril's Choice this year

Ok, thanks for the warning. I won't likely try it then, given so many tasty dwarfs / patio varieties...

There are many new and older hybrid varieties coming from Britain, I guess they love their red cherry toms. lol

Isn't Gardener's Delight a true and tested Brexit tomato? It is absolutely delightful, no matter what.

Edit. I was wrong, GD is a German-bred one - and of East Germany, originally named 'Gartenfreude' ... Anyway, it is already well Anglicanized.... I guess, and well loved in Britain's gardens.

According to Tania, Gardener's Delight came from Germany. Sounds like the sort of thing a Brit would name a tomato though...

People keep telling me that cherry tomatoes are a British thing, and I never realized that many people disdain them. All the more for me

Not as many verifiable true Brits developed heirloom Toms as I thought ........

It sure is interesting to see which regions in the Tomato world we have been given the most heirloom OP varieties from though ....

I guess I will stick with my Tigerella and Venus and Britain's breakfast , Cyril's Choice, Lucky Leprechaun etc. and be happy with the Brexit Reps...in this years

I really like Cyril's Choice.

I believe one of my favorite hybrid cherries, Terrenzo, was developed in the UK.

Congrats Brits - the people have spoken... Vox populii vox dei.. or...

It's tough for us all, BUT I respect their guts.

I believe it won't hurt any chances to get cheap quality seeds from the UK

There are 3 that were bred by the Glasshouse Research Insitute in the UK, and two I like.

They are

http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Tangella

Tangella, Craigella and the one that's been a big problem, which is Tigerella

http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Tigerella

Tania says it has an acid bite,so true, but the other problem is that it was also called Mr.Stripey and there already is another Mr Stripey

http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Mr._Stripey

And the two have been mixed up forever on the net. The original Tigerella, aka Mr Stripey is a small red with gold stripes and splits with the AM dew and the other Mr Stripey is a large gold/red bicolor and not that many folks like at all.

Again,Craigella and Tangella are great but avoid the original Tigerella if you can and of course just my opinion.

I end up growing Tigerella every year ....by "request" ...I

think it is the novelty of the striped fruit they like.......

Certainly if there is so much problems with Tigerella

a few substitutions for an Early Season striped fruit would be :

Csikos Botermo or Duo

I am also growing Fuzzy Wuzzy this year which is early /container /striped fruit and fuzzy foliage ....who could ask for anything more ....LOL
