As the title says I am retiring this year and look forward to learning all I can from fellow growers. I live in zone 7b and recently purchased my first heirloom seeds and want to do it successfully. Thanks

Good luck with your adventure. You will learn a lot here. What variety did you purchased?

Welcome to Tomatoville, Seajay! I'm in Pittsburgh, looking at 6" of snow rapidly becoming 7". My garden is all planned out in my mind, though, and I'm just waiting on the rest of the seeds to arrive. What are you planning on planting?

Good luck !
Judging from my own experience, it will take time to learn about many aspects of growing tomatoes: SOIL, CLIMATE, VARIETY GROWTH HABITS, FERTILIZING, WATERING , PESTS , DISEASES and general care.
I would recommend to pick and grow the varieties based on peer reviews, as starter. I have never grown a variety off the catalogues and seeds sellers descriptions.
