I plant in a soil generously ammended with compost and manure. I also incorporate some garden tone at the same time. When they bloom/set the first cukes I like to give them manure tea. If I don't have time for that a little MG at 1/2 rate. If I don't loose my vines to wilt I will continue with that about every two weeks so long as blooms are setting and fruit coming in.
