Default Furry Red Boar

Running my jaws on another thread reminded me I wanted to ask about this one.

I sent a gentleman off with a seedling of Large Barred Boar. When googling for more info for him, I came across this

http://www.amazon.com/Furry-Red-Boar.../dp/B000TMN9JI

Anybody know anything about it or grown it? Five bucks for 4 seeds. Wonder what is so unique about it and why they say it is so "Rare."

If I am not mistaken I think there is a tomato called Furry Peach. Are furried tomatoes going to be the next big thing on the market?

I can't answer you question about the Boar one, but you refer to a Furry Peach, and I don't think that exists, but there are quite a few varieties that are named for fruits that do have kind of a matte surface, I don't call it furry although some do, and some of them are:

Nectarine
Peach Blow Sutton
Garden Peach

HEre's Garden Peach

I've grown the three above and am forgetting I think a few others, but once was enough, just done out of curiousity, but they won't be grown again by me.

Starlight,

This a creation from Brad Gates at Wild Boar Farms. I have grown it and I am growing it again this year. I like it. It has good production for me and good flavor.

I certainly would not pay $5 for 4 seeds when I can order it from Brad's site for a better price.

Here is a link to the source that I ordered:

The Red Furry Boar and the Pink Furry Boar are from Brad Gates at Wild Boar Farms, you can buy seed direct from him at a much better price. I am not sure how many per packet but when I last bought seeds from WBF there were shedloads of seeds in each packet.

edit: natural beat me to it

Thanks Carolyn! I have seed for the Garden Peach, guess I'll move that one to the back of the list for a while.

What does a matte surface kind of feel like? Can you relate it to the feel of an item I might know. I don't know what matte is.

Thank you for the link and your opinion of it. I'm curious now as to what it will be like and think it is one I need to try. Of course I think I need to try them all. Just which sometimes there was more hours in the day and enough of a season to do just that.

That's ok. I appreciate you joining in. Always good to know what folks think of a site. It wasn't the price so much as the only 4 seeds, from somebody you don't know and knowing if they will or will not even germinate one seed.

Looks like I am going to have some fun shopping at Wild Boar.

$$$$$$$

In terms of tomatoes most folks I know would say smooth and somewhat sticky and that includes me as well.

Conventional definitions of matte:
