Default Hot Mariachis?

I grew Mariachi peppers for the first time this year. The description lists them as 500-600 on the scoville scale. All the reviews I found said they had great pepper flavor with very little actual heat.

Holy Toledo! That little pepper burned! I eat fairly hot peppers comfortably and this thing had my eyes watering and my nose running almost instantly.

It looks just like the examples on multiple suppliers sites. Has anyone else ended up with a randomly hot Mariachi plant? Maybe there's an imposter pepper that packs 100 times the heat rating?
