The EarthTainer "Farm" Nov 10 - - Still Picking... (pics)
We've had a pretty mild Fall so far, with typical temps in the 70's during the day.
The Brandywine from Croatia planted on April 10 are still producing ripe fruit: Kind of amazing for plants that were set out 210 days ago. The MarNar F2 plants I set in September 26 are developing nicely, and are loading up with fruit: Early Girl planted on August 1 are cranking them out today: Two Pepper plants in my outdoor InnTainer (yes, I know that is a contradiction in terms) are still producing: And the cukes are still growing well: For the Winter crop, I've planted 4 varieties of Snow Peas. Here are Avalanche on the left, and Oregon Giant on the right: A CukeTainer on the far left, and 3 PeaTainers of Mammoth Snow Peas: I've used the CornTainer moisture barriers with 15 slots, each with 3 seeds per slot (Goliath Snow Peas): The CeleryTainers are developing slowly but steadily: I should have celery, tomatoes, cukes, and peppers on the Thanksgiving Day table. Hopefully, we've got about another 45 to 60 days before we get our first hard freeze of the Season. Raybo |

Looking good as usual.
TSWV has pretty much shut me down here. A few plants have escaped and continue to produce, but it's a bitter end. Good thing about gardening is one gets to start over again each year! Of course, you seem to be starting over every month or two...wonderful to see. |

My goodness Ray, those BW from Croatia remind me of a bamboo forest! Just amazing.
I definately have to try the celery next year. I have seeds for a red one from Victory I haven't tried. Actually, I never tried to grow celery yet at all

Could be worse, halleone! Minus 5 here, snowing, and wind gusting to 50 k...
Only thing left outside is a pot of rosemary, brought my celery into the garage, probably enough left for a dozen pots of soup. Yours is looking great, Ray. Did you bunch it tightly or semi? |

Hi All,
Thanks for the replies. Regarding the celery, I have banded most of them in a loose manner with a large rubber-band about 3/4 the way up. A few I am letting grow naturally. They've been growing now for 158 days from initial seed start on June 6. The Snow Pea trials will be interesting this year, as I want to find out of the Avalanche, Goliath, Mammoth, and Oregon Giant, just which one variety does best for my local Winter climate. I want to "simplify" things and order from one seed source - rather than the 4 different Snow Pea vendors I ordered from this year. Raybo |

Looking good Ray! Sorry I missed you this summer but its been a busy and interesting year for me. The wife is due in Feb with our second (having a girl!) Maters are still trickling in and I've got some Diva's out in the yard too. Flavor is starting to decline but still much better than any store bought stuff. Feels like its going to be a cold winter for our standards but ya never know. Are you attempting and indoor grow again? Scarborough stopped carrying my favorite bark fines and Lillly Miller stopped making their time release fertilizer (two of my must haves for my soil) so I will be switching things up this year. I learned that Ocmocote the brand makes an all in one fert thats 15-9-12 that sounds interesting. Think I'm going to try that next year and I will probably have to travel further than Scotts Valley to find my bark fines, maybe to Sacramento where the Redi-grow plant is!? Anyway hope your doing well and your Fall harvest is good!
