Thanks! Besides all the pruning, I really don't do that much for them. I do believe in the $20 hole for a $2 plant(prices really should be increased since the time I learned that.) So I dig a large area and amend the soil well. The first few years I fertilize once in awhile with epsoma rose tone or fish emulsion, but once they are established shrubs, I just put compost/manure down if it seems like they need it.
I don't spray for foliage diseases. I try to pick out roses that are winter hardy and known to be disease resistant. I do use insecticidal soap for all the aphids, but otherwise, I sort of have a survival of the fittest kind of garden.
