came across some notes from 2006 re Japanese Trifle Black (seems to be various spellings of this) vs Russian Black Pear ...... (seed from Andrey) - I did trial both and recall the Russian Black Pear was much tastier ..... I have a few more notes and will update if I can find them

Russian Black Pear: dark-brown, midlate, indeterminate, very tasty and productive

Russian Black Pear (from Andrey - developed by NK Seeds called "Must pirn" which has crinkly, black colored, pear shaped fruit that is closely related to the Black Trifele Tomatoes. In Russia, these varieties are found more among the highest end seed dealers)
