Carolyn: Sorry to bother you, but to answer your question, I happened to see two posts plugging Black Bear (on this thread and another site) on the same day, and thought fate was nudging me to investigate it.

I asked about commercial sources after a websearch found mentions only by Tatiana and a British supplier, because I don't like to bother growers for a few seeds, especially at this time of year when they are busy cleaning up their gardens.

And yes, there are plenty of other dark varieties to try, Cherokee Chocolate, Tasmanian Choclate and Brad's Black Heart are also high on my list.
