Like Mcsee, we are in Gippsland as well and there is a definite lack of bees about for pollination duties, to the point where I will probably get a hive within the next year or two. This is simply down to there not being many hives located around here rather than any disease issues. We have lost bee keepers across the country in general due to the import of cheap Chinese "honey", a lot of which is apparently adulterated with rice syrup. The Chinese export 140,00 tonnes of "honey" but do not have the bee population to produce this much.
