This is an old thread, but I think this fits here. I have an insulated composter where I put all kitchen scraps. It performs well during warm weather, but using it winter time took some practicing. It is -15°C (5°F) outside currently, but the compost is running hot at 50°C (120°F). Week ago it was getting close to freezing in there, but luckily it started the process by itself and the temperature rose quite quickly.
