Most years, I make lists of seeds to buy, let the lists simmer for a while, look at all the seeds I have, and then decide I don’t need to buy more. Or at least order from only one catalog!

This year I have been lured by Baker Creek’s free shipping and interesting varieties to make a list from their catalog. I got the catalog at the heirloom festival in September, which was a great place to find seed I’d wanted for a long time (many vendors) as well as seed I didn’t know I needed— plus a bunch of impulse purchases! I spent $50 there and bought only seed, not any other garden tchotchkes.
