Here is my copperhead surgery picture from last summer in case anyone wants to look. It is garden related because the copperhead was under a cluster of Korney's Cross tomatoes. I noticed it coiled up there just as I was picking the tomatoes about 5 inches away from my hand. It was a very fat copperhead and I didn't pick any more tomatoes in that area - just let them rot even though the snake was very, very dead. Click on the album arrow to see the whole process. Snake lovers I only kill the ones in my yard and they aren't rare here for sure. The last snake picture (healthy long, live snake) is different one that was in my flowers.
