I also wonder why he opened the box from the bottom? "I've" never done that before, and I've opened several boxes in my days. I always open the top where the shipping label is.
I believe (and have said) that the story of the shadowbox is inaccurate. Either he was lied to or the story was misunderstood by him or someone else in the chain of the item's ownership. Or somebody is lying, possibly him or the seller. I tend to fall on the misunderstood story before accusing someone of a fake or lie, but it's certainly possible.

I had also wondered about opening from the bottom and concluded he was trying not to show personal info on the shipping label. I also noted that the item was packed very well for shipping, especially if he faked it.
