Yes, Texas started TWIA when insurance companies refused to cover for windstorm damages years ago. The only way people can get insured is to use them. Just got my renewal notice in the mail today. It's $2,267 for next year beginning 10/31/17.

We also have to have flood and homeowner's insurance here.
