Platypus House
second stop was Platypus House where platypus and echidnas are on display. Male platypus are venomous and can inject upto 100 ml of venom, which can vary in its toxic nature between individuals, making an anti-venin unable to be produced at this point in time. This venom is capable of killing humans. One male and three females are on display.
On the Echidna side, the have one female and two males, all unable to be released to the wild due to injury. They are finding echidnas have an intellectual level similar to dogs, with one in particular liking to problem solve.
The facilities are located in old warehouses on docks in the Tamar River
