i assume your ground has been frozen for a couple of weeks tho it has been so warm over the past 48-60 hours the ground here that is not covered by snow is getting soft and wet. if you can dig them i'd get them out and into a fridge or cold storage. onions bolt in year 2 and they have a fair amount of water in them and may well rot during freeze thaw cycles.
