Carolyn, here's my reasoning: first - Solana lists it as German
Strawberry, not German Red. Secondly, I find very few sites that mention a variety called just German Strawberry, and ((thirdly) the sites that do list it do so mostly as a red. Last, the photos of ripe fruit look the same. Admittedly, Solana calls its German Strawberry red-pink and early, while Tatiana lists it as midseason, so there's room for doubt.
