OTOH I'm thinking it is a bad winter for rats as well. For sure they count on the snow cover to provide a place for them to shelter. Minus 11 might be enough to freeze em in their ground burrows without the snow to insulate em. Or so I'm hoping. I feel mean and cruel saying that, but... if nature can reduce that population, it is for the best.
Man, that's wishful thinking. I had a rat chew through my aluminum seamless guttering the other day.

Agree Worth1, it's a yo-yo here too. Getting a little wall - eyed from the strain. Damp too. Could be the makings for a very violent spring with all these swashbuckling fronts. The winds have been ferrous too. Got some onion blunts I need to get in the ground - hoping this weekend.
