Here's an interesting article. http://njfarmfresh.rutgers.edu/docum...toSalt2009.pdf I've read that saline cultivation stresses the plant, which results in sweeter fruit. It's probably a difficult balancing act to find the right amount of stress vs excess damage to the plant.
