Don't over water and don't over fertilize cucumbers, cantaloupes and watermelons or they will just make vines.
This is from a guy I knew that was close to 89 years old and between him and his wife grew I think 40 acres of watermelon and cantaloupe in Bend Texas.
He had 20 and she had 20 and every year they had a contest to see who grew the best melons.
Lamar Morris was his name and was a school mate of my fathers back in the 20's.
The man saw me on a Harley 25 years from when I was a little kid and knew who I was.
