Mine are usually in cartons, and the ones in smaller containers show definite signs of distress way before getting that big..

They're in Roots Organics Original potting soil and have been on a steady diet of Foxfarm Grow Big (1 tsp per gallon) and Cal-Mag Plus (1 tsp per gallon) since being bumped into the 18 oz solo cups. That combination always seems to make a healthy plant with a thick stem.
They should be able to go into the dirt in 2 more weeks or so. They're chomping at the bit, though.
