I don't have a problem with state sovereignty, but it can make some Catch-22 situations. Texas Standard reported that an El Paso teacher visited some friends in Colorado over the break. Toked up - perfectly legally - then on her return failed a drug test.
She was summarily fired and the state(?) is trying to pull her teaching certificate so she can't work anywhere else in TX.
Not sure what lessons to draw from this example. (Ditching the federal (state = mini-country) system is not on the table.) Maybe make it clear that X person is not allowed to burn one down even outside the jurisdiction because the pee police will get ya'
