I don't even know what variety it was. It was sold by one of the local private gardening/nurseries, so I assumed it was appropriate. But I take full responsibility for my poor results! My problem is I grow in raised beds, and don't really have any extra space to dedicate to garlic. I tried to plant it in a strip close to where I wanted to put some bush beans the next year, figuring I could pull it around the time the beans would grow over it. Kind of worked, but not that well.
