I'm also growing Elmer's Old German for the first time this year. None have turned ripe for me yet, but they're listed as a pink beefsteak so watch for them to change color. Tatiana's Tomato Base lists them as mid season, but Tomatofest (where I bought my seeds) says they're 85 days to maturity which sounds like a late season variety to me.
