Garry, I've found that beans are generally more of a spring or fall crop for me in Texas because most varieties/types don't tend to set beans too well in the heat.

I'm no legume expert, but except for cowpeas (which love heat and will tolerate some drought too), most beans just don't do well in the summer for me.
