Anybody have any experience with the seed company [URL="http://solanaseeds.netfirms.com/catalog.html"]Solana Seeds [/URL]in Canada?

They have quite a tomato list and i was thinking of ordering a few things from there i havent seen elsewhere.

I've ordered from there once or twice. Didn't encounter any problems.

Reasonable service but quite high prices for [B]very small[/B] quantities of seed. Problematic germination. Used to be repackagers of bulk seed from the US. Now growing some stuff themselves. Don't know if this is the source of their germ problems. I certainly was misled by the talk of how things grew for them in Québec, but subsequently found that they grew a plant or few for trial and photo ops then offered the rest of the seed repackaged. Bulk and corporate tomato seed has very different physical properties. I have had wrong varieties (Box Car Willie being but one) in the past and see several questionable histories still. Most 'unique' varieties are from the SSE Yearbook.

I have used them several times with no problems.

I have not used them with tomato seeds, mostly for their ''different'' offerings, and would recommend them. I mean...him. This is a one man thing. There are so many people in my country and also in France that mention them with respect that I would tend to think the glitches they ( sorry, he ) had was involuntary.

He is working out of Québec, and these pionners there deserve some respect.CDNTOMATO, I hear you and feel you are right, but believe me, most of the french speaking canadians don't know the whealth of knowledge and varieties we are having the luxury to have here. This guy is honest and doing his best to serve us well. Of course he is repackaging, who in Québec could offer such a variety of ...say... south american plants.

He cannot be cheap, he is too small, but I don't really care. What's 3$ more on an order when my fellow colleages spend 60$ at the bar while I am chating, saving money and having the free privilege to exchange with you ?

I would sure tell him about wrongful packaging though, and I hope you did.

Somehow, with your credentials and your obvious care for details, I am sure you did...and we should all thank you for that...

I have ordered from Solana seeds a number of times. They have a good selection of tomatoes, and garden fruit. I found their service to be very good, and my grow outs (probably 20-30 varieties of tomatoes, fruits, beans) all grew out as expected, with excellent germination. kd

Gee great prices(GOUGE).
I see they have Beauty King 5 seeds for just $2.99.
Several other varieties of mine also at outrageous prices.
Berkeley Tie-Dye picture is Pink Berkeley Tie Dye wich is a completely different tomato.
At least some of the seed gougers give me breeding credit, at least they did not rename them I guess.
