A 25 acre Greenhouse in Maine

This is an ambitious project. I really can't fathom a 25 acre greenhouse.

There is a very large tomato greenhouse operation in Hokkaido (7.1 ha or 17.5 acres, or 1.5 times the size of Tokyo Dome). They focus on growing them on the dry side to up the sugar brix. You can purchase a box of them at the 6, 7,8, 9, over 10% level of the momotarou. You can also buy Van Gogh tomatoes (the older name for Campari) at 7 or 8%. The higher the sugar brix the more expensive the tomato, as in over 10% sugar brix for a kilo of tomatoes delivered 5,500yen (53 C$,45US$, 58Aus$)

Some of the Dutch greenhouse operations that grow bulbs have tremendous structures that cover very large areas. I won't say 25 acres, but, several acres. And, they suspend the workers from hanging trolleys so they lay on their stomachs to plant and harvest. No need to have aisles, increases production area by an additional 30-50% of total planting area.

there are large multi acre greenhouses in s.w. ontario. one near the dresden sportsmans club is +-10 acres and growing. very tall. like 16 feet tall. the farmers we shoot with over there claim the bell peppers will keep growing up as long as the peppers are picked from the bottom upwards.

a modular system, it keeps growing section by section, year by year.

there are more and bigger GH down around leamington,on. near lake erie. all commercial, i guess. libby and del monte were big over there years ago.
