Baconase - African Queen x Porkchop

Baconase - African Queen x Porkchop
Now at F2

The parents:

and

Two of the all-time greats in my opinion. What I was originally looking for was a PL version of Porkchop; an epic yellow with old-time, rich taste (if you haven't grown African Queen, it's the perfect example of an "heirloom" taste-wise. Rich and sweet. Just awesome). And I got that in one of my F2's. Here it is--

But that's not the one I'm carrying forward, because this little baby was love at first sight (and first bite).

FY 2-1. Production was medium, but the fruit were all big and meaty, and the plant was a PL beauty. So now I'm content to just take the ride and see what else comes along.

Nice job Paddy. That's a real beauty.

Both look so pretty and toothsome! Baconase -- appropriate name, no doubt will go good on BLT's as well. :cute:

L 1-17 , Big, sweet, yellow. Fruit shape could be better, but I'm carrying it forward anyway

L 2-20. Almost a dead heat between this and L2-21 (see below) in the flavor department (excellent!) 2-20 was more productive, 21 was earlier. Still trying to decide... Whichever I grow, I'm looking for anybody who wants to take on the other one.;)

Really beautiful fruits from two wonderful parents!

How do you do it PaddyMc? I noticed last year that your crossing threads contain the most beautiful pictures of the most beautiful tomatoes!

I'd be happy just to grow the ones you don't progress with!

Keep making beautiful tomatoes and please keep posting the threads

Carl
