Used Two Seasons and Still Unfinished.
 

A while back I decided to make a soil/compost sifter. Well, as my compost heap (Not pile...heap!) got bigger, my design kept changing to accommodate it's size. Finally over the course of a winter, I put some effort into it, and the result was a sifter that, even though unfinished, was still very useable.

I'll try to get together what I still have, and show it to you.

Looks cool! I have found hand-sifting through some wire mesh pretty messy and time consuming. But, that's a little more elaborate than I can manage to make. When you say not yet finished, are you planning on putting an outer wall around it to keep the dust from flying about so much?

The dust isn't much of a problem. It needs adjustable legs to keep the proper tilt. I have one set of legs on it now that are adjustable and have inflated tires attached, but I still need a second set of legs with a tilt adjustment built in. I have another vid somewhere, if I can only find it. As soon as I find it, you'll see what needs to be done...that's if I ever get to it.:roll:

Thanks, and yes, I designed, sourced the materials, and sweated over the build all by my lonesome.

I'll need to use it soon. I just turned (for the first time this year) some compost that I had in the chicken run, and the birds went nuts. The compost in there is from last years leaves, pine straw, table scraps and of course chicken manure and pine shavings, and it's over a foot deep, (12 foot long and 10 foot wide). Over 4 yards of compost, and the girls ate worms like it was Thanksgiving. I love it when a plan comes together! Everybody's happy.:D

P.S. Those birds ate , at least 1 lb. and some close to 2 lbs of worms each. I swear I heard someone burp, but when I looked around it was just Bertha (one of the Butt sisters) her crop sticking out like she just ate one of the neighbor's dogs.

Okay I looked at the pictures I saw the videos.
I was going to ask what you weld with but I saw the Miller wire feed.
I have to ask. what did you use the get the hoops round.

And yes it is a great job I aint complaining at all.

Just get some guards on that drive system.:shock:

I got my hand caught up in a chain drive on a rock crusher once.
Still got all of my fingers but it was close.:lol:

It's good that I don't have to use it again (I finished up today) until some time in the fall.
