"There is no logical response to the question, "Why won't you let me plant more tomatoes?"

The answer is, don't ask, just do it!

Mojo,

Aaaah - - I sense a "competition" is on!!

Started these in Rapid Rooters on December 23:

I've had germination in all 33 Rooters (I plant two seeds per Rooter since occasionally some of the seeds do not germinate), then I will snip the under-performing seedling in 4 weeks:

I have been taking out the tray only into the sunshine for an hour or two every other day or so to expose them to wind, etc.

Kim,

Kind of ironic that I picked 2 Carmello tomatoes and 3 Yolo Wonder Peppers from the Fall garden today to use in my homemade Chili tonight. We had a hard freeze here about a month ago, but fortunately, about 25% of the plants that were adjacent to the house made it through and continue to blossom, even as of today.

To be sure, the taste is not what I get from Summertime tomatoes, but they are still much better than the store-bought ones.

... to be sure ... I always said I was born in the wrong country - can't take this cold weather, & it is only getting worse. I had my first trip to San Francisco the end of October - I fell in love .... but couldn't possibly afford those housing prices!! I would give anything for the gardening weather, though!

Kim,

I grew up in the Buffalo area (survived the Blizzard of 77-78), and have been out here in Silicon Valley since 1983. While very nice to go to the CNE in the Summer, etc. I would find it quite hard to head back in that direction permanently.

Son and D.I.L. are actually trying to get us to move "West" to Honolulu to spend more time with our Grandson - - but we do like it here so much.....

I remember that blizzard! Snow up past the top of the STOP signs, went to high school on snowmobiles ...THAT is why I shouldn't be living here, lol! California, .... Hawaii .... such a terrible decision!!:P
