Beautiful Lobed Mortgage Lifter

1 Attachment(s)
Look at this beauty! The first few trusses on this Mortgage Lifter made these beautiful lobed tomatoes. I'm in love and my family just doesn't understand 😂

I have never seen one look like that.

I hope mine looks like that in the fall. When am I supposed to direct start seeds for fall growing here? I haven't a clue. But I don't want to use cups and everything else this season and I don't want to buy plants. I just want to try out nature and see how it works out with direct seeding. I can always pull the plant and replant it in the same container to make it think it was transplanted, lol.

Beautiful!

If you like that look you should try costoluto genovese.

Which Mortgage Lifter are you growing and I ask since they are not all the same in appearence.

Here's the well known Quisenberry one

and here's the Estler one

I've grown many of them, but to be honest I've never seen one with so many deep lobes that yours has.

If you feel comfortable about it could you share with us where your seeds were from and how they were labelled as to which ML version?

Thanks,

Carolyn

a deeply lobed fruit and is that potato leaf foliage I am seeing... cannot be mortgage lifter of any strain imo. Did you grow it from seed or was it purchased as a plant
whatever it is it is a very nice looking tomato and I hope you enjoy it, I bet it will be delicious.

Carolyn,

I purchased these seeds from Baker's Creek this year. I'm not sure that they are labeled anything other than Mortgage Lifter. I've grown them in previous years but they never looked like this. I think these ones are quite stunning!

They're regular leaf.

Won't be the first time people got the wrong seeds from them.

Ooooh!!!:)):))

I will say that I've got 4 of these plants growing in my garden this year but this is the only one that's making tomatoes like the one pictured.

Worth1 July 6, 2017 04:55 PM

How big are they?

HBKitmitto July 6, 2017 05:23 PM

Well I haven't measured them yet but I'd say this one was bigger than a baseball so far. I don't expect that it's finished growing yet.

Worth1 July 6, 2017 05:48 PM

Very interested in this tomato.
You wont hear that from me often.

Also mortgage lifter is a pink.
If the tomato has yellow skin it is a red if it is clear it is a pink.
I'm trying to figure out which tomato seed this thing is.
So far the only thing I see they have is Rosso Sicilian when is a red which is slightly hollow inside.
