Ami-great looking fruit. Mine usually cracks more than that since I am growing in the desert Southwest. Still, even with the cracks, its a great variety. What local German varieties are you growing?

mdvpc, Most of the local varities you find here in Germany are hybrids. Out of the 26 varieties I'm growing only Green Giant is german. Heirlooms really havn't caught on over here. There are German heirlooms to be had but from only a few websites and nothing local.

That is a great looking NBD-you should grow golden dwarf champion next to it-they really complement each other.

Two New Big Dwarf seedlings up and away and looking very strong. NOW, I am really looking forward to the end result.

Thanks Mantis, You won't be disappointed. Its now history as I removed the seeds and ate the rest. The wife wasn't to happy but there are more-a-kummin.

I grew NBD and Golden Dwarf Champion in 5 gal. buckets this summer. I really liked them both for their size, productivity and taste. Next year, I plan to grow two of each. Also, I would like to thank whoever gave the tip to put large holes in the bottom of smaller pots. The roots of mine all grew through these into the ground. Almost like a small raised bed.
