Read the blog and it's only at the F4 so no time soon as I see it.

But who knows for sure.

Totally understandable. Get to feeling better.

Hey, I got dibs on his one.

It just occured to me, I'm slow on some days, that we now have two varieties with the same name. And the one I found at Tania's site looks to be about the same size as Steve's, so maybe they are the same since Tania also sources the variety to Russia as does Steve.

I can't really estimate the size of the one that Mark shows, but I'm not concerned about that, just that there are two varieties with the same name.:(

Perhaps the folks at Frogsleep Farm might go with "Bengal Tiger" instead? ;-)

Mine was a working name, so no problem changing. Unfortunately the lateral striping phenotype (I am assuming controlled by Fs) is very significantly influenced by environment. I still have advanced lines from this cross (BKing x P20), but none that look quite like this, or that match the name Siberian Tiger.

I think if the one tomato is Russian, we should go honor its original name, and not go by its translated name.

I see the Frogsleap's Siberian Tiger have been already discussed in quite a few places, and folks posted pictures. Changing the name may be a bit confusing after it 'escaped', no?

Mark, how stable it may be by now?

Tania February 2, 2013 01:18 PM

I looked up the Russian tomato. It is called 'Amurskiy Tigr' (translates 'Amur Tiger', or Siberian Tiger')
