What a crazy year it has been. Tons of small beautiful fruit all August.
Finally some decent slicers.
I'm smitten with my 'rock star' DwarfMetallica...I even love its zipper tattoo.

You have some real beauties there.

Oakley, those are great-looking tomatoes! What is the striped green slicer? Green Zebra? (I grew Dwarf Summertime Green as my green-when-ripe this year, and am still waiting for a ripe one. They were really late to set fruit.)

Salt -- Interesting article, and timely. I took some tomatoes to my office yestereday -- Jaune Flamme, SunGold, a bunch of red varieties, some browns/blacks, and some pinks. At the end of the day, the pink ones were still sitting there. One of my colleagues said that she expected pinks to tasted like grocery-store tomatoes because they're so pale. I encouraged her to try one anyway, since pink and red are the same on the inside. I await the results of her taste-test...

Beautiful weekend. We did get frost on a few summer squash
leaves and pulled all the basil the day before as it was ready to
harvest anyway. (it would have been toast with a light frost)
The squash will recover and keep producing just like another
round of rhubarb is up now with the cooler weather, as long as the
nice weather continues. Two week forecast is above 50 at night.

The annual tasting is more about the menu than an actual
'tasting' for winners but I ended up with plenty of good fruit to do
a small tasting of slicers and cherries. 10 people could not give
a winner as all were good and most were previous winners. The
surprises were DwarfMetallica and Owen'sPurple. Both fantastic,
OP just a bit sweeter but the gel and seed cavity was very wet
and fluid. Not over-ripe, just a bit too seedy. Still a 9.
All were 8.5 - 9.5

Just thrilled to have any good fruit being such a bad year...
All early large fruit had severe stem rot on weak plants. Starts
went in strong but must have had cold, wet, then drought, and
maybe hail damage. Then very hot.
