Surprise of the summer 2018

Mine...

I work with Johnny's and I know the tomato breeders. So I have no idea why I have never grown Cherry Bomb, and why they have never said anything to me about it. But it is fantastic! Great flavor. Vigorous plants. Very little cracking. I only know about it now because a neighbor was growing it, and swears by it. And I have been watching his plants with awe, all summer.

Thanks for the tip. I've been looking for a good red hybrid to replace Sweet Baby Girl, so think I'll add that to next summer's list. Looks super attractive!

Is this the same as Randy's Cherry Bomb which is mentioned at Tania's Tomato Base?

No. It is a Johnny's F1 hybrid cherry tomato.

I'm growing this now; To call it robust would be a understatement; It just started flowering but is throwing off so many suckers/side shoots. Since I only sowed one seed (I was away for a month), I am going to clone some of the shoots for additional plants.

I hope it tastes as good as the Tokita SunSeries breed.

I bought fruit in a local grocery last winter and grew out about a dozen F2 plants. No surprises, lot's of variability, and nothing quite as nice as the F1.
