Rosebush Trouble
 

On the way home, I noticed a couple of rosebushes that earlier in the year looked beautiful. The were covered in roses. This is May 25, and we haven't had days above 90F yet (Which is odd for here) Those rosebushes I saw yesterday had lost all of their flowers and leaves with exception of a few leafs on the top. They are 7 miles from our house.

Today, I looked at my brother's rosebush and it looks just like the ones I saw yesterday. It is in full sun and the weather temperature has been in the 70s and 80s with lows in the 60s and 70s. It has rained a whole lot in April and up until about a week ago.

Anyone have ideas/thoughts on why this has happened to the rosebushes?

Are you sure that is rose growth? It looks as if maybe the rose bush has died, and a creeper has climbed up it, hence the green leaves :(

My guess would be all the rain.

You made me curious enough to walk to his backyard and look. They are rosebush leaves.

I think it rained too much too. I hope the rosebush makes a comeback.

My guess would be black spot. It causes the leaves to drop. Once conditions improve, the new leaves will grow.

Sue, there were two leaves on the rosebush with black spots on them. The first result on a search shows what they look like [URL]https://www.thespruce.com/black-spot-on-roses-4125530[/URL] There was too much rain and constant humidity. Me and Worth were both right, but you nailed it.

Good. At one time I had about 30 rose bushes around my property, and I learned a bit about caring for them. I don't have many any more, but if I ever get my landscaping back under control, I want to add a few more again. A lot of rain and humidity is the culprit, it really encourages the fugal spores.

Was hoping someone else would say black spot and they did.
I didn't want to say they ((had)) something.:lol:
What ever the case, with the soil drying and rain slacking they should recover.

Salt, back to your other thread, that I can't find, about a mystery plant you posted a photo of. Someone suggested that it looks like a fig. When I saw some young leaves on a grape vine today I was reminded of your photo - another possiblity. ?

It's here [URL]http://tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=49124[/URL]. Grapes have vines. It grows more like a tree. I've never seen another one of whatever it is.
