lettuce in the greenhouse

Photo of lettuce in clay pots. Cutting lettuces dont need a lot of space, and compared to the stuff you can buy at the store, they are so tender.

Yum! Very pretty, Michael. I like your planters, too. What are the approximate dimensions?
|
Michele-they are 17 inches by 8 inches. I use big and small containers for the cutting lettuces. These are clay, I have never used clay before for cutting lettuces, wanted to try them.

Looks very neat and yummy. What varieties of cutting lettuce are you growing?
|
Nice!! I should grow more lettuce. Just like tomatoes it tastes so much better grown at home.
|
Spatz-dont remember what the lettuce in the photo was. I buy lots of different kinds of cutting lettuces, mainly from Seeds from Italy and SSE. I also grow arugla, spinach, kale, chard, mache, and the like. I kind of buy what sounds good to me, grow it until I run out of seed and then buy other kinds. I especially like tom thumb lettuce and little gem romaine. Really, any nice cutting lettuce or romaine or arugula, etc takes great. I also especially like barba di frati, a cutting lettuce form Italy I got from Seeds from Italy. Very nice variety. :D

Oooh that's nice!!! Next to tomatoes and peppers, lettuce is my favorite crop. I got seeds from Seeds from Italy for the first time last spring and was really impressed with the varieties and the quantity of seeds in the package.

Dee-nothing like a nice fresh cut salad with home-grown tomatoes!
