Worlds most expensive seeds???

My false teeth nearly fell when i saw how much they were charging for tomato seeds in this catalog that came in my mail.Notice where ive circled the cunning why they have worded it so as they cant be liable for false advertising (Our Suppler),wow hard to believe:shock: that there's actually a tomato out there that doesn't need spraying, just a hint of sarcasm there

One New Zealand dollar =73 US cents

Well...you need to ask farmall, about it...as it was his grandfather was the one to release it.

Barnum said there's a sucker born every minute; guess they're just fishing for them.

shlacm August 1, 2010 04:48 PM

I wonder; does "seeds for 2 plants" mean 2 seeds, or is there some margin for error?

Medbury Gardens August 1, 2010 05:05 PM

I think its all in the wording, when "suckers" read that they see in there minds two big plants with lots of tomatoes where otherwise they only see two little seeds.
Cunning *&$*#

Wow that is crazy!

I'm surprised that some of you don't recognize most of those pictures b'c it's a US based company that has ads like that in the Sunday Supplementsts for years and years.

I actually got a catalog from them that was so ridiculous in describing varieties, mostly renamed BTW, that I did a long post about it but right now I don't remember where or when,

Wasn't there a song that had lyrics that included "where or when?"

I guess you can tell I've had kind of a long day here.;)

Mt.Imagine August 1, 2010 09:22 PM

Yeah, with only two seeds you'd be lucky to get even one plant. I hate deluded commercial bs like that. And by the way, no tomatoes "require spraying" with poisons. YUCK!

I have plenty of Peron seed but it looks like I will have to raise my price Ha Ha. I don't know were the sprayless to pestacide problems came from someone obviously made that up My grandfather introduced the peron in the late 40's as a variety that did very well against disease not insects. The Peron was one of our best selling tomato's from the 50's to 1994 when my father Closed the seed company down, so the Peron is definatly nothing new. I do feel sorry for anyone who would dumb enough to pay that much for seeds or plants.

My 2 cents

Good thing you have a stash of seeds, 'cause 2 cents wouldn't even buy you ONE, lol!!!
